The Ropes Course - a Villages Tradition
The Adventure Challenge Program at The Villages Stone Nature Center
was begun by a house parent couple for use with their youth. Expanded
over the years it is now one of the largest ‘ropes courses’ in the state.
TEAM WORK—TEAM BUILDING
SELF-CHALLENGE—SELF-ESTEEM
COMMUNICATION—PROBLEM SOLVING
Adventure challenge course activities have been
a component of The Villages group home and foster
home program for nearly 20 years. For more than 10
years the program has been available to groups in the
community but not widely publicized. After rebuilding
several of the ‘high’ elements and renovating nearly
every element on the course, The Villages’ Stone Nature Center is ready to offer team building, challenge and
problem solving programs to many more community
groups including your team!
The per group hourly cost includes all
equipment and a facilitator for a group of up to 14
(depending on age and special needs). More than one
group can attend at the same time. Most groups will
want to spend a minimum of about 3 hours on the
course. Participants need to come with water, sturdy
clothes and shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen and a lunch
or snacks as appropriate.
Different elements on the ropes course can be combined to teach and
practice creative problem solving, team building, communication and
self-esteem building for groups of all ages. What began as a few community
groups using the course has grown to hundreds of participants
from schools, colleges, sports teams, senior citizen groups,
birthday party groups, etc. New opportunities are now available for
community groups to use the course. We welcome your inquiries.
