LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible to the Lead Clinician

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing specified mental health services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) in the ORR (Office of Refugee Resettlement) Shelter program. The Clinician is the care provider staff that provides clinical and/or counseling services for unaccompanied children and provides oversight for the unaccompanied child’s mental and emotional health.
DUTIES:
E = essential function, M = marginal function
- Conducts and documents assigned mental health assessments. (E)
- Screens for trauma and child abuse including sexual abuse and human trafficking. (E)
- Screens for risk of harm to self or others and recommends appropriate response. (E)
- Contributes to individual service plan (ISP) for each UC. (E)
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy. (E)
- Provides oversight for UC’s mental and emotional health. (E)
- Provides crisis intervention as needed. (E)
- Assesses need for higher level of mental health care and/or ORR placement, including outside referral for psychological evaluations. (E)
- Coordinates care with case management and medical personnel. (E)
- Coordinates with Case Manager, Case Coordinator, and other team members regarding reunification of UC with parent/sponsor. (E)
- Documents all contact with UC in UC portal. (E)
- Maintains clinical case file materials according to ORR policies and procedures. (E)
- Maintains appropriate, satisfactory and harmonious relationships with the public, co-workers, other employees and youth. (E)
- Accepts additional duties as assigned. (M)
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: A Master’s Degree from an accredited clinical program in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other relevant behavioral science in which direct clinical experience is a program requirement, or a Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years clinical employment experience. Clinician must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Kansas. Must pass a KBI and CANIS background check. A good driving record in order to be insured by The Villages’ insurance company.
BONA FIDE OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT (BFOQ): Bilingual (Spanish/English) language competency in both spoken and written forms is required.
